Ask five buyers which part of Andheri West is the most posh and you will get five answers. There is no official ranking. What there is: five distinct pockets, each with a different character — and inside each, buildings that vary far more than the pocket name suggests.
1. Lokhandwala Complex
One of the best-known residential addresses in the western suburbs, with shopping streets, restaurants and everyday conveniences close by. Much of the stock is older societies, so the address and the building are two separate questions. Check parking, layouts, society finances and any redevelopment discussion before you pay for the name.
2. Versova
Quieter interior lanes and coastal pockets give parts of Versova a more private feel than the busy commercial stretches. But it changes street to street. Check road width, monsoon access, parking and the actual view from your unit — "sea-facing" should be judged from the flat, not the brochure. 3. Oshiwara
A mix of residential, commercial and newer towers, with easy access to Jogeshwari West. Two projects a few hundred metres apart can differ sharply in construction quality, density and maintenance costs, so the individual building matters most here.
4. Link Road and New Link Road
The corridor for newer, amenity-led towers — DLF's The Westpark, just off Link Road, is one example. The trade-off is traffic. Check road noise, the entrance approach and whether your flat faces the road or the inner side.
5. Four Bungalows and Seven Bungalows
Established localities with a calmer residential character than the commercial corridors, with Versova Metro station on Line 1 close by. Walk the lane, and compare building age and upkeep before shortlisting.
So which is the most posh?
That depends on who is buying. A family will weigh building upkeep, schools and the daily commute. Someone after privacy will look at street activity and flats per floor. An investor should look at registered transactions, rental demand and the all-in cost. In every case, compare actual flats on RERA carpet area — not advertised rates.
The practical takeaway
Pick the pocket for your routine, then pick the building on its own merits. A prestigious address does not fix a poorly maintained building, and a great building can sit on an ordinary lane.
