Before you buy a two-wheeler for this commute, test the Metro. Since Line 3 opened, there is a rail route from Andheri to the Worli–Haji Ali side that did not exist a few years ago. Compare the whole door-to-door trip — walk, change, and the last stretch to the NSCI gate — not just the time on the train.
First, confirm the destination
NSCI sits on the Haji Ali seafront, at the southern edge of Worli. A route or station carrying the name "Worli" does not automatically drop you nearest the gate you need. Confirm the entrance with the club, especially for an event.
The Metro route to test
From Andheri West, take Line 1 east to Marol Naka and change to Line 3 (Aqua Line) towards South Mumbai. Science Centre, Acharya Atre Chowk and Worli are among the Line 3 stations on this side — check MMRCL's journey planner for the best exit and onward route to your gate. The change at Marol Naka takes time; include it in your trial.
If you live closer to Andheri railway station than to a Metro entrance, test the suburban rail option with its onward connection too.
The two-wheeler side
Count fuel, servicing, insurance, parking and the effort of riding both ways. Confirm parking at NSCI before treating it as convenient. Then think about monsoon riding, carrying work equipment and the ride home when you are tired.
The practical takeaway
Do one Metro trial and one realistic road trial at your normal departure time. Note arrival reliability, cost and how you feel at the end — and repeat the return trip. Many people end up with a mix: Metro on routine days, another option when hours or luggage change.
Frequently asked questions
Is public transport necessarily slower? No. The change and the last leg decide it. Test both.
Is older route advice still valid? Not since Line 3 opened. Check current operator maps.
What should decide it? Reliable door-to-door time, manageable cost and a routine you can sustain.
